940th Air Refueling Wing AFRes McClellan AFB, California KC-135E 314th Air Refueling Squadron

The 940th MAG was assigned to the 452nd MAW at McClellan AFB with the C-124C from January 1968 until April 1972, when the unit converted to the C-130A and became the 940th TAG. Seven months later the group upgraded to the C-130B. The unit switched from airlift to the air-refueling role with adoption of the KC-135A in October 1976, moving to Mather AFB at the same time. The unit upgraded to the KC-135E in 1985, and moved to McClellan AFB in July 1993. The 940th upgraded to wing standard in October 1994, and is due to relocate to Beale AFB in 1995.
